Until 2010, there wasn't any ocean safety education or lifeguards in Pescadero and Todos Santos, and only two beach signs in the area. There is no public swimming pools, and most of the local people didn't know how to swim, and couldn't safely enjoy many water activies. As a consequence, at least two people would die per year in the waters off these shores. Tourism is growing and more and more people have had to be rescued from the rip current at Cerritos beach by occasional surfers.

We are proud to announce we now have six certified local Lifeguards and a Lifeguard program in operation at Cerritos Beach, all year around. We have installed ten beach warning signs along the beaches of Todos Santos and Pescadero. We are working on the next round of Lifeguard training, and public education programs.
